The Dog

We have a dog.

She was my birthday present four years ago.  We adopted her from the local animal shelter.  We went from building to building, looking for The One for our family.  There were several contenders, but nothing clicked.  Until we came to her.  She was just a little puppy, with her paws sticking out from underneath the bars.  I reached down and stroked her paws.  She only pushed them out further so I could pet them more.  I fell in love with those paws.

And she had us at that.

Bailee is a great dog.  She's a pointer-pit bull mix.  We call her a Pitter mix.  Don't let the pit bull part scare you.  I firmly believe that pit bulls are only mean when they are mistreated and abused by their owners.  The pit in her gives her a loud mean bark.  Which I like because it lets strangers know WE HAVE A DOG and SHE WILL GET YOU.
(Truth be told, if she ever encountered danger, she'd be the first to high-tail it outta there.  She's what you call a scaredy dog.)

While our Bailikins (one of many nicknames we have for her) may be a great dog, she's a little slow on the obedience part.  This is what happened when I told her to sit.

She up and left.

Our Woofers (another alias) has a very cute, but stinky puppy butt.  Which is another name we have given her.  Puppy Butt.  She also has a long tail that will whack the heck out of your legs, the doors, whatever may be in it's path.  It just makes her puppy butt all the cuter.

But those eyes and the little floppy ears (which flopah-flopah-flopah when we are out running), really just make her so endearing to us.

We have two cats as well, but they aren't nearly as fun and entertaining as our Bailee.  She has made our family very complete and I'm so glad she's ours.

  1. Fun post Venessa - maybe someday we'll have the joy of having a stinky puppy butt of our own. :) So glad you have her!
